Tours Tunisia: Day Trips With Your Own Private Driver

Day trips with Tours Tunisia start at your hotel door and end there the same evening. Your driver takes you to Carthage, El Jem, Kairouan, Dougga or the coast, and you pay one fixed price for the whole car, on the day.

Why Travellers Book Tours Tunisia

Tours Tunisia gives you your own car and driver for the day, never a seat on a coach. As a result, you choose the start time, you stay as long as you like at each site, and nobody stops at a souvenir shop unless you ask. We are a small local team based in Hammamet, so the person who answers your message also plans your day.

How Booking Your Day Trip Works

Booking a day with Tours Tunisia takes about two minutes, with no account and no card. You pick the day and we handle the car, the driver and the route. Here is the whole process, from the form to the drop-off.

  1. Pick your day

Choose a day trip, a date, your pickup city and your group size. The price for the whole car shows straight away.

  2. We confirm

By email or WhatsApp, usually within two hours, with your pickup time and a fixed price.

  3. We collect you

Your driver meets you in the hotel lobby, usually at 08:00, and stays with you all day.

  4. Pay on the day

You pay your driver at the end of the day, in euros or dinars. Nothing before.

What Every Private Tour Includes

One price covers the car, the driver and the road. In other words, the only things you pay on the spot are entry tickets, usually about 12 dinars per site, and your lunch.

  • A private car or van

Air-conditioned and only for your group, from one traveller to twelve.

  • Your driver all day

Waiting at every stop and keeping to your pace, not a group’s.

  • Fuel, tolls and parking

All in the price, with no extra on the motorway or at the sites.

  • Hotel pickup and drop-off

From any hotel, Airbnb or address in our four pickup cities.

  • Free child seats

Tell us the age of each child and the right seats are in the car.

  • A later return on request

On full days, stay longer at the sites and be back as late as 18:00.

How Much Does Tours Tunisia Cost?

You pay for the vehicle, not for each seat. For example, four people on the Kairouan and El Jem day pay €90 in total from Hammamet, which is €22.50 each. Here is what a group of four pays on three of our days.

Private Driver or Hotel Coach Tour?

Coach tours sold at hotel desks look cheaper per head. However, the gap closes fast once you are two or more, and the day itself is very different. Here is what actually changes.

Tours Tunisia: Your Questions Answered

These are the questions travellers ask most before they book a private day trip in Tunisia. If yours is missing, send it on WhatsApp.

How much does a private tour in Tunisia cost?

With us, a private day costs from €45 for Friguia Park to €120 for Dougga and Bulla Regia, for one to four people. The price is per car, so a bigger group pays more for a bigger vehicle but less per person. Every price is on our Tunisia excursion prices page.

Is Tunisia safe for tourists?

The resort towns and the main heritage sites welcome millions of visitors a year and are generally calm. Still, check the latest UK government travel advice for Tunisia before you go. With a private driver, you also never wait at a station or a roadside.

What is the best time to visit Tunisia?

April to June and September to November, when days stay around 18 to 28 °C. In July and August the sites get very hot, so choose an 08:00 start. Winter is mild and quiet, which suits Carthage and the medinas well.

How many days do you need in Tunisia?

From a beach hotel, two or three day trips cover the essentials. Start with Kairouan and El Jem, then Carthage and Sidi Bou Said, then Dougga or the Cap Bon coast. Most guests leave a rest day between two long ones.

Can you visit the Sahara on a day trip?

Not really. Douz and the dunes are about six hours each way from Hammamet, so a real Sahara trip needs at least two days. For one day, Kairouan and El Jem give you the best of inland Tunisia.

Do I need a guide?

No. Our drivers know the roads and the sites, and you can visit freely with a ticket. They are not licensed guides, however, so if you want a full guided visit we add an official guide for a fee.

What should I wear on a day trip?

Closed shoes for the ruins and the cobbled medinas, and a hat in summer. Cover your shoulders and knees for the Great Mosque of Kairouan and near the Zitouna Mosque in Tunis.

How do I pay?

In cash to your driver at the end of the day, in euros or dinars. You enter no card and pay no deposit when you book, and cancellation is free up to 48 hours before pickup.
